[break][break]"i'm allowed to be here," she adds quickly, raising her hands in surrender. annalise just fought in one war and now she seeks to avoid another. mew flits around greyson, trying to incite play. ignoring the tension, perhaps, or trying to diffuse it by creating a distraction.

[break][break]their last meeting had been explosive, but greyson stands before her now like it hadn't happened at all. like their relationship, for all the good and harm it has done to him, hadn't happened at all. [break][break]the corner of her mouth twitches as he turns away to evaluate mew, suppressing the maddening want to rile him up just to see if he still cares. this is good, she tells herself. this is fine.[break][break]"i mean, we were in the middle of a fight but — i don't think palkia really reacted. it just helped mew out. mew and illeana reyes used to be partners, so maybe that's why."[break][break]her shoulders rise and fall, but it's clear by her tone that she understands why greyson asked. she doubts other legendary pokemon will be so lenient, especially those aligned with their enemies. overall, there are just too many unknowns to give voice to the other burning question in the back of her mind: can mew do it again?[break][break]instead, she asks another:[break][break]"have you heard any theories as to why mew wouldn't transform into a legendary before?"
